NOT suitable for sales promotion #9: MITSUWADAI 101

"I lived in Room 101 on the first floor of a 30+ year old apartment building in Mitsuwadai. At first, I lived there with my girlfriend, but eventually she moved out, and the room became chaotic, with people (mainly Kiichi) coming in and out almost daily.

Mitsuwadai 101.

The upstairs apartment was occupied by a day laborer-esque dad who frantically vacuumed in the middle of the night, and my Korean neighbour, a mother, would scold her children in what seemed like an abusive way (I once reported her to the police).

The bathtub had an old-fashioned balance boiler* (the kind that ignites with a click). If you left the starter on, the water would boil, transforming into a cauldron of hell. It was a super annoying antique bathtub.

One day, while I was taking a nap, I heard the sound of drums beating "tupa-tupa tupa-tupa" from the elementary school next door. I assumed they were practicing for the summer festival, and then I went back to sleep...

I suddenly woke up to find my room shrouded in a thick fog. I panicked for a moment, wondering what was going on, but then it clicked - "It's the cauldron of hell!" (in a congested tone).

So this song is about being careful with old-fashioned bath heaters (in a joking tone)" - Hidde

Cauldron of Hell!

Room 101 is a rundown apartment in Mitsuwadai. This room was my favourite hang out spot back in the day. However, Hidde had gotten a new girlfriend and decided to move out of this rundown apartment and into a new one.

On his last night in 101, a load of people had a one last party in that shithole and we all ended up passing out.

That night, I had a very erotic dream.... In the dream, I had my hand inside a woman's underwear, frantically moving my fingers around. Then, a wave of clarity came over me and my fingers stopped.

"Huh? Who is this woman...?"

I woke up in the dark, my eyes where darting around, first from the thighs that were lying next to my face then to her body, and then from her body to her face.

Chills ran down my spine...

The woman's true identity was... Hidde...

I had slipped my fingers inside Hidde's underwear and was vigorously rubbing his balls.

I lamented myself for doing such a regretful thing, but at the same time, I felt a surge of anger: "Why didn't Hidde wake up when I did that?"

As I lay there feeling both angry and sad, I lay in bed completly stunned for a while.

It was too hard to deal with this situation alone, but it was 5AM, it was too early to wake everybody up. So I did the only thing I could think to do at that time... I texted Kengo

"I was having a sexy dream about sticking my fingers inside a woman's panties, and when I woke up, I'd been rubbing Hidde's bollocks!"

Kengo replied right away...

"Wow...that's tragic..."

Mitsuwadai Room 101... This is the place where a horrific incident once occurred.

"Be careful of erotic dreams! That's the true meaning of this song (in serious tone)" -Kiichi

Mitsuwadai 101.

* Balance boilers were developed in 1965, these boilers are still occasionally found in older rental properties in Japan. They are always installed directly next to the bathtub, with a shower hose and faucet extending from the boiler. They allow you to fill the bathtub with hot water and wash your body in the shower.

An old-fashion balance boiler bathtub.
