As part of the promotion for the upcoming NOT CD release, Private Scandal's Japan Representative, Kiichi-Vader has conducted a series of interview with NOT's vocalist/guitarist, Hidde. These interviews are being published in Japanese on the Mr's Instagram account and in English here.

"Back then, when I got a stomach ulcer from LSD, the world seemed murky and yellow. Drugs taught me a lot of things. This is a pretty serious song." - Hidde

Kiichi: Were you trying to make a Stalin-esque song?

Hidde: Huh? The Stalin? No, not at all.

Kiichi: Huh? I thought it was a homage to The Stalin. This song is sung in Japanese, and your voice in this one is Stalin-esque too...

Hidde: No, I just wanted to try singing a song in Japanese. Around that time, you introduced me to Tokyo Rockers* and Gedo, and I was really into them, so that was actually the bigger influence.

Kiichi: Ah, so that was it. You said that LSD was what inspired you to write this song. I've never tried LSD.

Hidde: Is that so?

Kiichi: Yeah, weed just made me dizzy, so it wasn't really my thing. I thought I'd be better off doing uppers rather than taking the risk of getting arrested. (This was back in the day, they don't do such things nowadays).

Hidde: Hahaha. So, these lyrics are about me thinking about running away from home when I was high.

Kiichi: What? Running away from home? Are there lyrics saying that?

Hidde: The lyrics say, "I thought about going missing."

Kiichi: Oh, so you're trying to sound cool talking about running away from home? (laughs)

Hidde.

Hidde: Yeah (laughs). And the "lake on the spoon" in the lyrics refers to cooking up crystals on a spoon.

Kiichi: Yeah, I got that. I lit up all kinds of crap, even boogers, I found on the floor when I was high, and smoked it, too.

Hidde: I know! I'd crawl around on the floor looking for stuff...

Kiichi: Everything looked like you could smoke it, and when I lit it up, it started sizzling and turned black. I'd say, "Oh, it's a bit of plastic!" (laughs)

I really did smoke all sorts of shit...

Hidde: Hahaha! But drugs really taught me a lot.

Kiichi: That's right, like what's real and what's fake.

Hidde: Yep, once you reach a certain level, you'll be able to tell whether that stuff on the floor is shit or the good stuff.

Kiichi: Yeah. So, I'd pick it up with hope, light it up, and...

Hidde: F.U.C.K! It's a booger!!
