NOT suitable for sales promotion #2: MASTURBATION
"A song about being so busy you don't have time, but still never forgetting to masturbate." - Hidde
Kiichi: Let's move on to the second song.
Hidde: This song is exactly as I wrote in the description.
Kiichi: Well... I guess so... It's something that's essential, or something you can't do without, no matter the situation.
Hidde: It's like a lifelong commitment. Well, in a way, it's a state of enlightenment where I realise that what I'm doing (my band) is also a form of masturbation. (laughs)
Kiichi: I see. (laughs)
Hidde: Also, I really like this song.
Kiichi: But considering how much you like it, is that all you've got to say? Is there anything else you want to add?
Hidde: I didn't really want to say this, but... this song was inspired by ヨンブンノイチ (Yonbunnoichi, a band formed by Kengo of the C&C around 2002).
Kiichi: What! Really?!
Hidde: Yeah, the intro to Yonbunnoichi's song LOOP7 was really cool, so I wanted to make a song with a similar vibe.
Kiichi: There was a time when you also played guitar in Yonbunnoichi. Hmm...so NOT started after Yonbunnoichi went on hiatus, right?
Hidde: Actually, there was a time when I was in NOT and Yonbunnoichi at the same time.
Kiichi: Come to think of it, Connor and I were just talking about Yonbunnoichi yesterday.
Hidde: Is that so?
Kiichi: Yeah, a while ago, Uda (U.D.A) sent me a YouTube video saying, "I didn't know there was a music video like this!?" and when I watched it, it was a Yonbunnoichi music video. The one where you're playing guitar.
Then, when I told Connor about it, he said, "I didn't know Hidde played guitar in Yonbunnoichi," so I sent him the video.
Hidde: Ah! That's the music video made by that guy who ran a label in America!
Kiichi: Yes! That's it! What was that American guy's name again?
Hidde: What was it? Was it Steve? ...Huh? Maybe not? Maybe Bob? No, it couldn't have been Bob?*
Kiichi: Anyway, it's a bit strange because it was made by an American with no prior knowledge of punk, imagining Japan as his image. (laughs)
Hidde: Yeah, but at the time, there was no one else who could make stuff like that, so I'm grateful.
Kiichi: Yeah, that's true. Kengo hates talking about Yonbunnoichi, but I really like the cheap feel of that video.
Hidde: Yeah, it's a ridiculously embarrassing video.
Kiichi: It's not the video that's embarrassing, it's yours and Kengo's acting that's embarrassing!
Hidde: That's definitely true (laughs). But when we were doing Yonbunnoichi, I wasn't really thinking about anything, so it was fun.
Kiichi: Speaking of which, Kengo has a shaved head and is wearing sunglasses, so Uda sent me a message saying, "I was so surprised that Kengo looks so much like Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi!"**

I thought that was a bit of a joke, but when I watched it again, I realised that he really did look like Tsuyoshi!
Hidde: Lol

| Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi. |
*Steve from Japan Files. Japan Files is an American independent label. He introduced Japanese bands to the world via the internet, and planned overseas CD sales and live shows.
He arranged for Samurai Delicatessen Band and Makiko Higuchi to perform in Las Vegas, and sold C&C's CDs in the US. To us, he was like Connor in the early 2000s.
**Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi is a Japanese singer-songwriter. Specifically, a folk singer with a wonderful voice who has produced many classic songs, he is also known for occasionally causing trouble and causing a stir. As a result, he has many passionate fans in Japan, but is also somewhat despised by non-fans.
