As part of the promotion for the upcoming NOT CD release, Private Scandal's Japan Representative, Kiichi-Vader has conducted a series of interview with NOT's vocalist/guitarist, Hidde. These interviews are being published in Japanese on the Mr's Instagram account and in English here.
NOT suitable for sales promotion #1: HEAD IS MOYAMOYA*
"I saw Kakuei Tanaka (the 64th and 65th Prime Minister of Japan) on TV saying "head money" instead of "down payment," and I thought it sounded silly and cool." - Hidde
In Japanese, the word for down payment is 頭金 (Atama-Kin), 頭 (Head) + 金 (Money).

Kiichi: So, I'm going to ask you about anything that's not clear from the explanation alone, or anything I forgot to mention. So, is there anything?
Hidde: This is the first song NOT I wrote. The band I was in before NOT, The Treaners, only had fast songs, so I thought I'd write something a little slower.
Kiichi: Is this slow? Oh well. So what else?
Hidde: I wrote it using non-syncopated major chords. That's why it's NOT's most pop song.
Kiichi: Oh really?! I never thought of it as pop at all!
Hidde: It's one of the pop songs I've written.
Kiichi: I see. More importantly, did Kakuei Tanaka really say "head money"?
Hidde: He really did say it!
Kiichi: He might have really said it, but I think Tanaka was on TV when you were in elementary or middle school. That's a really old story.
Hidde: Right, it was when I was in elementary or middle school. I thought the straightforward, literal translation was cool, and it was etched in my memory (laughs).
Kiichi: So, you were thinking about using it someday, and you thought, "Now's the time!" (laughs).
Hidde: That's right, I'd been thinking about it for a long time. (laughs)
For a while, the word "moyamoya head" was popular among my friends. People would say, "Oh... My head is moyamoya…" and use it on a daily basis, and I was kind of happy.
Kiichi: I know that word.
It all started when Yuda (汽笛と犬 (Kiteki to Inu)) and I would joke around and say, "My head is... MOYA! MOYA!!" (Really emphasising the "ya" part so it was pronounced like YAH!!! YAH!!!).
Hidde: Hahaha. So, that's why the song expresses the frustration that arises in everyday life.
Kiichi: Well, then, Tanaka Kakuei has nothing to do with it! The title isn't "Head Money" either!
This situation is exactly what HEAD IS MOYAMOYA is all about!!
* MOYA MOYA expresses feelings of incomprehension or inability to accept something.
